Jaipur, “The Pink City”, gets its name from the deep pink, lime-plastered buildings.
*Rambagh Palace– I can’t say enough about Taj hotels in India, they are spectacular…..This place was once the home to the Maharaja of Jaipur, the grounds (47 acres) are stunning. There are peacocks, elephant polo, indian classical musicians playing in the courtyard, indoor & outdoor swimming pool, spa, 4 restaurants and a beautiful happy hour on the verandah. It is pricey but well worth it! We stayed for just one night and had 1 1/2 days in Jaipur. Again we were splurging for our 40th Bdays!

SIGHTS:
*Jantar Mantar Observatory-An open air virtual museum that holds 19 architectural astronomical instruments. It is beautiful and worth the visit!
*Hawa Mahal– “Palace of Winds”……a red and pink sandstone palace that was built so the women of the royal household could observe street festivities while unseen by the public. Another unique and beautiful place, we did an audio tour here.
*City Palace-Housed the throne of the Maharaja of Jaipur and is a complex of courtyards, gardens, museums and art galleries.
If we had more time in Jaipur, we would have also seen the Amer Fort.

FOOD:
*Choki Dhani– Thali indian vegetarian cuisine in a mock Rajasthani village setting with entertainment.
SHOPPING:
*Hot pink store– Find clothing, accessories and home decor
*Ridhi Sidhi Textiles– Beautiful quilts, sheets & fabrics
