Ranthambore National Park is one of the largest national parks in northern India and famous for spotting tigers and other wildlife. I have to say this was the highlight of our trip…..as mentioned, we drove 4 hours from Jaipur to Ranthambore.
*Sher Bagh Hotel– This Relais & Chateaux hotel, is a luxurious safari style tented hotel next to the park. Each tent influenced with British decor is luxuriously comfortable, romantic and charming. There is a butler bell in each tent, a hotel pool overlooking the park, a library, and a large tent for breakfast and dinner under the stars. You can also reserve for a massage and other spa services. After your safari day, they have a happy hour around a bonfire with drinks and cigars and a thali style dinner al fresco. The best bit about this luxury jungle hotel is the service. The hotel is closed from May 30th-Sept. 30th.

SIGHTS:
*Safari- The main pass time here is taking a jeep safari to see the wildlife and hope for a tiger sighting. You can also do a camel or horse safari. There is an 8th century fort one can visit in the heart of the park. There are morning and afternoon game drives to see the wildlife that can include deer, crocodiles, boar, leopards, tigers, monkeys, sloth bears, foxes, etc.. We were lucky enough to see a tiger kill. It was one of the most exhilarating moments of my life. We waited for one hour in the jeep and the tiger came running towards us and turned right before he reached our jeep and pounced on a deer. A sight I will never forget! The second picture below captures that moment.
